Powell Says House Prices Not a Concern Right Now

FED

Q: Are you worried about valuation pressures in the housing market?

  • A: We monitor just about every asset price, and housing prices are something we have been monitoring. You see them moving up... Housing prices are not of a level of concern right now. That is just are reflective of a lot of demand.
  • And you know, builders are going to bring forth supply. Housing prices themselves are not a financial stability concern at the moment. We will watch that carefully, but in the near term I wouldn't think that is an issue that we would be concerned about.
