POWER: Russian Attacks Hit Energy Station in Ukraine’s Sumy Region

A Russian overnight missile and drone attack hit an energy station in Ukraine’s Sumy region which caused blackouts, Sumy Regional Military Administration said via Telegram.  

  • Repair works are already underway and power supply to some of the critical infrastructure has been restored. 
  • On Monday, Ukraine has resumed scheduled power cuts on Monday for the first time in three weeks, as hot weather has lifted power consumption according to Ukrenergo. 
  • No power cuts have so far been announced for Tuesday. 
  • Ukraine has lost around 9GW of its power generation capacity since the attacks in spring. Ukraine’s DTEK plans to restore up to 70% of its electricity generation lost by Russian attacks by October.
