Preem's Lysekil Refinery Set to Produce More Renewable Fuels

Swedish refiner Preem has announced funding to convert a diesel-making unit at its Lysekil plant to make renewable diesel and SAF according to a statement by the company.

  • Construction is due to start this year and finish in 2027 and comes as part of plans for the refinery to use ~15% less crude by 2027 compared to levels last year.
  • The facility is expected to increase renewable production capacity by 1.2 million cubic meters, compared to the total capacity of renewable fuels in 2023, which was approximately 530,000 cubic meters.
  • The investment “positions Preem to become the largest producer of renewable aviation fuel in Northern Europe and one of the largest producers of renewable fuels for road transportation” the refiner said.
