Betting markets see President Joe Biden as the strong favourite to take the Democratic Party nomination for the 2024 Presidential election.
- According to betting exchange Smarkets, Biden currently has an implied probability of 46.3% chance of taking the nomination. California Governor Gavin Newsom and Vice President Kamala Harris are effectively tied for second, with an implied probability of around 10.5%.
- Biden's strong performance at this month's midterm elections has put him in pole position to take the nomination if he choses to run for a second term.
- Biden has stated that he will make a decision on running for a second term after consultation with his family over the holiday period. He is expected to announce his decision in early January.
