  • Peruvian lawmakers started debating the impeachment of President Pedro Castillo after proceedings were briefly suspended on Monday amid scenes of disorder in congress.
    • After a marathon eight-hour debate, 55 of 128 lawmakers voted on Monday night for impeaching President Pedro Castillo, short of the 87 needed. Fifty-four voted against, while 19 abstained.
