President Petro At Stanford University, Economic Activity In Focus

  • President Gustavo Petro gives a lecture at Stanford University on environment and social justice in Latin America. According to local newspaper El Tiempo, the president will shorten his visit to the US and would return to the country after his meeting with US President Joe Biden to meet with the Venezuelan opposition.- Separately, Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro said an international conference to be held in Bogota next week will help “revive” the stalled talks between his government and the country’s opposition.
  • On the data front, Colombia will release its economic activity index, which likely grew 3% y/y in February, according to economists surveyed by Bloomberg. Additionally, Colombian lawmakers are expected to start debating the health reform bill.
