Putin: Meeting Took Place In A Constructive Spirit, Ukraine Discussed

In his post-summit presser, Russian President Vladimir Putin states that the talks with President Biden took place in a constructive spirit.

  • Confirms that the US ambassador to Russia and Russian ambassador to the US will return to their posts and restart work following talks with President Biden. This was one of the most modest low-level expectations of the talks, and seems to have been achieved.
  • Putin: US & Russia will begin interagency consultations on successor to New START arms control treaty (which expires in 2026)
  • "I don't think there was any kind of hostility [between himself and Biden]. On the contrary, I think it was very constructive."
  • Says "we know about cyber attack on US pipeline" but adds "Russian authorities have nothing to do with that."
