Qatar in 27-Year LNG Deal with Taiwan Based CPC

Qatar has agreed to supply the Taiwan based Chinese Petroleum Corp (CPC) with LNG for 27 years, the emirate's state energy company announced on Wednesday.

  • Qatar will supply four million tonnes of gas a year under the deal.
  • Under the deal, CPC is to be given a partnership in Qatar's North Field East project, a part of Qatar's overall North Field Expansion programme.
  • CPC will purchase 5% in a gas liquefaction train of the North Field East project that’s currently under construction and will start output in 2026.
