LNG

LNG imports into NW Europe reached record levels in December with cold weather in the first half of the month driving strong demand.

  • Approximately 87 cargoes arrived in December compared to 78 in November, excluding transshipements and reloads, according to Bloomberg ship tracking data.
  • The largest LNG supply originated from US with 42 cargoes and there were 11 arrivals from Russia.
  • Another 8 cargoes are expected into NW European terminals before the end of the month.
  • Net LNG import flows into NW Europe have fallen from a peak of 336mcm/d on 15 Dec down to 266mcm/d on 27 Dec as warmer weather has eased pressure on European import supplies. Despite the decline, imports remain well above the seasonal normal level of 104mcm/d.
