Record Russian LNG Exports Expected  in 2022

Russian LNG sales will rise to a record in 2022 according to estimates based on tanker tracking data from Bloomberg.

  • Exports in Jan to Sep 2022 averaged 2.78m tons a month compared to 2.62m per month in 2021 and 2.56 per month in 2019.
  • Approximately 80% of Russian LNG exports this year have been directed to European and Asian nations that have imposed measures against Russia. Japan, France, and Spain are among top buyers.
  • Western countries have not imposed sanctions on Russian gas like those on Russian oil.
  • Russia is there fourth largest LNG exported behind, Qatar, Australia, and US.
