Recovery From Early European Session Lows

Equities have fully recovered a sharp but brief and ultimately shallow sell-off in early European trading (no trigger seen), and are trading broadly flat-to-higher.

  • Asian stocks closed mixed, with Japan's NIKKEI up 59.53 pts or +0.26% at 23110.61 and the TOPIX up 2.88 pts or +0.18% at 1613.73. China's SHANGHAI closed down 42.96 pts or -1.24% at 3408.129 and the HANG SENG ended 188.47 pts lower or -0.74% at 25178.91.
  • European stocks are broadly higher with the exception of the UK, with the German Dax up 32.19 pts or +0.25% at 12914.19, FTSE 100 down 1.36 pts or -0.02% at 6075.49, CAC 40 up 6.06 pts or +0.12% at 4944.37 and Euro Stoxx 50 up 7.36 pts or +0.22% at 3297.08.
  • U.S. futures are up very slightly, with the Dow Jones mini up 30 pts or +0.11% at 27746, S&P 500 mini up 4 pts or +0.12% at 3390.75, NASDAQ mini up 13 pts or +0.11% at 11421.25.
