Redfield And Wilton Poll: Conservative Party Continues To Sink

UK

A new poll from Redfield and Wilton Strategies, conducted since the sacking of former Chancellor of the Exchequer Kwasi Kwarteng, has shown the Conservative Party continue to crater and the Labour Party open up a 36% polling lead.

  • The poll comes as the position of Prime Minister Liz Truss appears increasingly untenable. Truss was criticised by Labour MPs for failing to attend PMQs today, with Leader of the House Penny Mordant taking questions from the dispatch box in her stead.
    • Redfield and Wilton: "Labour leads by 36%. Largest lead for ANY party with ANY polling company since October 1997. Westminster VI (16 Oct.): Labour 56% (+3) Conservative 20% (-4) Lib Dems 11% (-2) Green 5% (+2) SNP 4% (–) Reform UK 2% (–) Other 1% (-2)"
    • Betting markets see a Truss exit in 2022 as likely. Smarkets showing implied probability of Truss leaving office before year-end 72.46%, a number which has increased throughout the day.
