Risk Takes Breather

Riskier currencies are finding poise after U.S. equity benchmarks finished Thursday's Wall Street session in the green, with crude oil prices edging higher this morning. There has been little on the news wires to trigger these moves and major currency pairs still hold fairly narrow ranges.

  • Antipodean FX lead gains in the G10 basket, while CHF brings up the rear. The yen is also losing ground amid a leg higher in USD/JPY, which has taken the pair above the Y135.00 figure.
  • German Ifo Survey, UK retail sales & the final reading of U.S. Uni. of Mich. Sentiment take focus from here.
  • The central bank speaker slate features Fed's Daly & Bullard, ECB's Centeno, de Cos & de Guindos, BoE's Pill & Haskel, RBA's Lowe & BoJ's Amamiya.
