RTRS-Gov't: UK Will Deviate From Brexit Deal Unless EU Shows Flexibility

Wires and social media reporting comments from Reuters attributed to unnamed sources claiming that the UK gov't will this week threaten the EU with deviation from the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement unless Brussels shows more flexibility, notably with regards to the Northern Ireland protocol.

• Later today, European Commission VP Maros Sefcovic holds videoconference calls with both Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney and the new leader of Northern Ireland's Democratic Unionist Party, Sir Jeffrey Donaldson.
• Tensions remain high between RoI-EU and unionist politicians in Northern Ireland regarding the implementation of the Northern Ireland protocol. The DUP remains staunchly opposed to the protocol insofar as placing a customs border down the Irish Sea between Northern Ireland and Great Britain.
