Reuters carrying comments from the spokesperson of "Hamas' armed wing" stating that he, "told mediators that group will release some foreign captives in coming days."

  • The release of hostages, held by Hamas in Gaza, is considered a crucial step towards a temporary humanitarian cession of hostilities with talks, mediated by Qatar, understood to be taking place with US officials negotiating on behalf of Israel.
  • As of today, "The Israeli military said 240 people had been taken hostage during the Hamas attack. Just four have been released; one has been rescued," according to the New York Times.
  • NYTs notes that Hamas say they are, "willing to release hostages in exchange for a cease-fire and in exchange for the release of all Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails — prospects that the Israeli military has all but ruled out."
