Ruangkrai Says He Will File Another Complaint Against Pita As Media Shares Saga Continues

THAILAND

Ruangkrai Leekitwattana, a political activist affiliated with the ruling Palang Pracharat Party (PPRP), said that he was planning to lodge another complaint against Move Forward Party (MFP) leader Pita Limjaroenrat following reports that Pita may have got rid of his media shares at the end of last month.

  • The Thai Enquirer cites Ruangkrai as noting that the sale of the media shares would have no impact on Pita's eligibility to become Prime Minister as he held the shares before registering as a candidate in the 2019 and 2023 elections.
  • Pita wrote in a social media post today that his iTV share were transferred to his relatives to ensure that he can become Prime Minister. He also questioned iTV's status as a media organisation, noting that its frequency was re-allocated to Thai PBS in 2007.
  • The Bangkok Post reports that the MFP leader refused to discuss the matter with reporters when he arrived at Pheu Thai Party headquarters for a meeting with coalition allies. The two parties continue to seek compromise over their joint candidate for House Speaker.
