- Ruling Law and Justice (PiS) leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski said that the recent press conference of far-right Confederation leader Slawomir Mentzen and top state watchdog Supreme Audit Office (NIK) head Marian Banas was "unacceptable." Mentzen and Banas delivered a joint statement in which they vowed to uphold the independence of NIK and called for the adoption of new legislation empowering the institution. The two spoke a few days after it was announced that Banas's son would contest the upcoming parliamentary election as a Confederation candidate. Although the current NIK head had previously served as a Finance Minister in the PiS administration and was elected to his current post by the parliamentary majority, accusations surrounding his asset declarations resulted in his split with the ruling party and a prolonged institutional conflict.
- Echoing earlier comments from Polish officials, Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said that the country has changed its invasion-response doctrine. In the event of war, it would defend "every inch" of its territory instead of using the Vistula river, which splits the country in half, as the first line of defence.
- Rzeczpospolita reports that in 2024 Poland's minimum wage may approach average wage in some regions and sectors of the economy. The minimum wage is set to increase by around 20% next year, in two steps.
- Parliament holds its last session before a summer recess. Lawmakers will debate a bill giving the President a more important role in shaping foreign policy in second reading.
