Russia, China Agree on Gas Supply Via New Planned Pipeline

  • Russia and China have signed an intergovernmental agreement on gas supplies via a planned pipeline, the so-called Far Eastern route, according to Interfax. The agreement was signed on Jan 31, Interfax reported citing documents in Russia’s legal database. The deal follows last year’s commercial agreement between Gazprom and China’s CNPC.
  • In the first week of February, Russian oil companies increased production by 0.7% against the average level in January to 1.491m tons per day, Kommersant report. In February 2022, oil companies produced an average of 1.508m tons per day.
  • The Bank of Russia will report preliminary balance of payments data for January as well as its weekly changes in gold and FX reserves at 1600 GMT/1900 local time. Interfax report that Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov will hold a news conference at 0900 GMT/1200 local time.
