Russia Diesel Exports to Surge in January

Russian seaborne diesel exports are expected to surge in January ahead of the EU ban on imports from 5 Feb according to Bloomberg.

  • Russian exports from the main Baltic and Black Sea ports are set to increase 8% month on month to 2.68m tons in Jan from 2.48m tons in Dec.
  • The Jan flow rate equates to the highest rate in at least three years at 86.5k tons/d.
  • Europe has been attempting to increase stocks of diesel before the start of the ban with strong imports from Russia as well as from Asia and the Middle East.
    • Primorsk at 1.839m tons up from 1.753m tons
    • Vysotsk at 0.30m tons up from 0.29m tons
    • Novorossiysk at 0.546m tons up from 0.44m tons
