Austria Drastically Reduces Dependence on Russian Gas

The share of Russian gas in the Austrian market has fallen from 79% in February to 21% in September according to Austrian energy ministry officials earlier today.

  • "We have made a big step towards reducing our dependence on Russian gas. The final goal has not been reached yet as we will become truly free only when we are completely able to do without Russian gas. We are tirelessly addressing this every day," the officials said.
  • Austrian gas storage facilities are over 95% full according to the ministry.
