RUSSIA: Private Cos, U.S. Agencies Disrupted Colonial Pipeline Cyberattack

Bloomberg have circulated a source report noting that "a small group of private-sector companies, with help from several U.S. agencies, disrupted ongoing cyber-attacks against Colonial Pipeline Co. and more than two dozen other victims." The report flagged that the intervention halted the flow of stolen data headed to Russia, which is "believed to be the ultimate destination, according to three people involved with or briefed about the investigation into the breach."

• This comes after U.S. Pres Biden said that Russia had "some responsibility" for the ransomware attack which halted the operation of a crucial fuel pipeline. Biden indicated that "there's evidence" that hackers responsible for the attack are in Russia.
