RUSSIA: Russia Records Small, and Likely Temporary, Federal Budget Surplus
RUSSIA
- Russia had a federal budget surplus in the first nine months of 2024, albeit a small one of RUB 169bn, or 0.1% of GDP, the Finance Ministry reported yesterday. However, Kommersant note that the surplus for the nine months, the first since November 2022, will be temporary, as the ministry plans to ramp up spending in the remaining months of the year.
- Russia’s Energy Minister, the CEO of Gazprom and the President of PetroChina Co. are among the attendees of the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum today.
- Gold and forex reserve data will cross this afternoon, with CPI figures for September the highlight of the week tomorrow (Est: +8.55% Y/Y; Prior: +9.05%).
