Russian Exports Steady Despite March Production Cut

Russian seaborne exports show no sign of a reduction due to the announced 500kbpd production cut in March according to Bloomberg vessel tracking data.

  • Russia’s seaborne crude flows rebounded 220kbpd in the week to 10 March to 3.33mbpd. The four-week average output increased 116kbpd to 3.41mbpd.
  • Supply to Asian customers rose to a new high of 3.19mbpd up from 3.1mbpd the previous week. This includes 682kbpd to unknown Asia destination which historically are headed to India.
  • India and China are still the main buyers of seaborne Russian crude with India recently increasing purchases of the Pacific ESPO crude grade. Four out of 11 ESPO crude cargoes loading so far this month are heading to India compared with two out of a total 30 shipments in February.
