Russian Oil Exports Down 11% Early December: Kommersantz

OIL

Russian oil exports fell by 11% for December 1-20 compared to the previous month according to Kommersantz reports.

  • Russia’s exports to non-CIS countries - covering both pipeline and sea-borne shipments - totalled around 560,000 tonnes per day during the period.
  • The dip in export comes after the EU imposed its ban on seaborne oil flows.
  • The new restrictions introduced by Western countries have not yet had a strong impact on Russian oil production according Kommersatnz. It is still on track to rise by 2% versus 2021 to 535 million tons it said.
  • Russian refineries are reported to be increasing throughput because of the export restrictions on crude. The European ban on Russian oil products is not implemented until February 5.
