Russian Pipeline Crude Supply to Czech Republic Extended

The Czech Republic will continue importing Russian oil until it can find a substitute, with a target date of 2025, according to TASS news agency.

  • TAL pipeline expansion will increase supply to the Czech Republic by 4 million tonnes per year from 2025 and remove the need for Russian oil imports, pipeline operator Mero said.
  • In 2022, 56% of the 7.4 million tons of oil imported into Czech refineries was of Russian origin.
  • An EU-wide ban on seaborne imports of Russian oil, but allowed an exemption for pipeline imports.
