Russia’s fuel output fully meets current demand: Energy Ministry

The volume of Russia’s oil products output fully meets current demand for fuel, the Energy Ministry said Aug. 24.

  • This is accounting for the redirection of some gasoline and diesel exports to the domestic market as well as the use of stockpiles,
  • Russian media had previously reported shortages of diesel and gasoline, with scarce supplies noted in the Astrakhan, Ryazan and Novosibirsk regions, as well as Kalmykia and Volgograd, according to Kommersant.
  • However, the Russian Energy Ministry attributed the difficulties with supply in southern regions to high congestion on railways during the tourist season. ·
  • On July 24, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak offered support for proposals to limit the number of gasoline exporters to limit ‘gray’ export schemes. However, no decision has been made.
