Germany can wean itself off Russian gas within the next three years according to Markus Krebber, CEO of power producer RWE, speaking to newspaper Frankfurter Allgemaine Sonntagszeitung.
- "If we expand quickly, we can make it by spring 2025. The supply problems might be somewhat manageable a year earlier," according to Krebber.
- The German government predicts they will be able to manage without Russian gas in 2024, reiterated as part of the LNG deal signed with Qatar today.
- With regards to Russian gas supplies, Krebber said "I expect a further shortage of gas supplies and not that someone will turn off the gas tap completely."
