Ryanair (NR/BBB+/BBB+) Complains on German government taxes

Ryanair making more friends, see here. Lufthansa is likely hoping it does leave given the price competition it's reportedly bringing into markets. It got a special call-out too; "these very high Govt fees continue to damage German air travel, tourism, its economy, and consumers, and only serve to prop up Lufthansa’s high-fare monopoly".


Not first time Ryanair has gone after Lufthansa - it did last year on state aid handed out during Covid and in Lufthansa's case successfully got the EU to annul €6b of recapitalisation. Lufthansa has appealed that decision (still pending) and paid back aid in full. The EU commission more recently announced it was investigating the outcome from the court.
