Schiff Warns Of Cyber Attacks

Rep Adam Schiff (D-CA) chair of the House Intelligence Committee has spoken on the current state of the war in Ukraine:

  • Schiff: “Civilians are being killed. We must provide Ukraine what it needs to defend itself. We need to dramatically escalate the sanctions to the largest banks in Russia. We need to wean Europe off Russian energy and gas and [enforce] the final death of Nord Stream 2.”
  • The extent of sanctions will be revealed shortly. President Biden is scheduled to address the nation at 12:30 ET 17:30 GMT.
  • On the current state of the military situation in Ukraine Schiff said: “[It’s] Hard for us to evaluate. it’s a terrible mismatch. Russia has the ability to overwhelm Ukrainian defences.”
  • Schiff says there is currently no evidence of cyber-attacks in US. But “Russian tools in the cyber realm may not stay in Ukraine. They get into the wild”.
  • This echoes President Biden’s remarks yesterday which warned that US businesses should be prepared for cyber-attacks.
