SEB Raises Hike Forecast To 5 in 2022

SEB has raised its Fed funds hiking forecast following the January FOMC meeting: it now becomes the latest of several sell-side analysts to see 5 hikes in 2022, with raises in March, May, and June, followed by a pause and then Sept and Dec hikes.

  • However, their expectation for 3 hikes in 2023 remains, leaving their end-23 projection at 2.00-2.25%.
  • They see the Fed beginning to tighten the balance sheet this summer (previously they'd seen it starting in Q4 2022).
