Sempra Expected to Boost LNG Capacity in Gulf

Sempra is set to give the go ahead to build a natural-gas export terminal on the US Gulf Coast according to WSJ sources. An official financial investment decision is expected in Q1 next year.

  • "We have made significant progress on advancing development at Port Arthur LNG, where we now expect to take a final investment decision on Phase 1 in the first quarter of next year", Jeffrey W. Martin, Chairman and CEO of Sempra said.
  • Sempra is finalising a 20-year binding agreement to provide ConocoPhillips with 5mn metric tons per year of LNG.
  • The company recently announced signing the EPC contract for Port Arthur LNG Phase 1.
  • Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 is also under active marketing and development.
  • The company continues to advance its Cameron LNG Phase 2 project under development and anticipates FID on Train 4 after the front-end engineering and design process is completed, which is currently targeted for the summer of 2023.
