Senate Approves Bill to Hold Presidential Recall Referendums

  • Mexico's Senate has approved a bill proposed by President AMLO that would enable citizens to oust a sitting president before the end of their six-year term via a no-confidence vote, El Pais reported Aug. 16.
  • Vice President Kamala Harris will meet with Mexican Economy Secretary Tatiana Clouthier and Foreign Affairs Secretary Marcelo Ebrard in early September to discuss economic issues, including supply chains and development, among others, Ebrard said on Tuesday.
    • The meeting will take place Sept. 9 in Washington. Harris will be accompanied by officials from the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative and the Commerce and State departments, Ebrard said during a press conference. The Mexican delegation will include Finance Ministry officials. (Inside Trade)
