US DATA: Sept trade deficit widened to -$54.0b from -$53.3b in Aug, a 
slightly wider gap than -$53.5b exp. Imports and exports both increased 
in the month. The census goods gap widened to -$76.3b from -$75.4b in 
Aug, a wider gap than -$76.0b in the advance estimate.
- The NSA trade gap with China widened to a record $40.2b in Sept, with 
overall imports of cell phones and toys up in the month. This was offset 
by smaller gaps with Canada, Mexico, the EU, and Japan.
- Exports rose in Sept on gains in industrial supplies (+$2.8b, petro 
+$1.1b, nonmonetary gold +$1.0b), capital goods (+$1.1b, aircraft +$1.2b), 
autos (+$0.2b) and consumer goods (+$0.1b). These were partially offset 
by a dip in foods and feeds (-$1.0b)
- Imports rose in Sept on gains in capital goods (+$2.4b on telecomm, 
aircraft engines) and consumer goods (+$2.0b, mostly apparel, toys, and 
cell phones). These were offset by declines in industrial supplies 
(-$0.2b, crude oil -$0.3b), autos (-$0.6b), and foods (-$0.2b).
