Shekel Claws Back Earlier Losses, Israel Intercepts Foreign UAV

USD/ILS changes hands at ILS3.5937, down 24 pips on the session, despite earlier printing a new one-week high at ILS3.6301. Losses past the 50-DMA (ILS3.5622) and Mar 28 low (ILS3.5287) would revive bearish case, while bulls look for a rally towards Mar 20 cyclical high of ILS3.7130.

  • Israeli air force shot down a foreign aircraft (likely an UAV) which crossed the border from Syria. The interception took place "in an open area," without posing threat to residents. Local media suggested that the aircraft was of Iranian origin.
  • Defence Minister Yoav Gallant on Sunday warned that Israel will not tolerate any aggressive behaviour from Iran or Hezbollah. Gallant's political fate remains in the air, with Ynet reporting that he has still not been served a letter of dismissal.
