US DATA PREVIEW
US DATA PREVIEW: SocGen economist Omair Sharif expects that "elevated
expectations" of next Friday's US Oct. jobs report "may disappoint" as
"consensus expects that nonfarm payrolls rebounded by 310,000 in October. We are
on board with the idea of a solid bounce, but we suspect that job gains may have
been closer to 200,000."
- He adds "to be sure, there is upside risk to our estimate, but historical
experience after Hurricane Katrina showed that hard-hit industries struggled to
spring back in the following month, and that phenomenon may have repeated this
October. Meanwhile, given the extent of the damage and flooding from Irma and
Harvey, there may have been some lingering weather effects that hindered job
growth."
