Spox: RUS SWIFT Suspension Would Have 'Massive Impact On GER Business'

On SWIFT, govt spokesperson says a suspension would have massive impact on German business & require lots of preparation."

  • German gov't spox also states that at last night's European Council meeting, a number of member states did not want any sanctions on Russian oil and gas. Comes as Germany, Italy, Hungary, and Cyprus come in for intense criticism for their refusal to countenance the most hardline of sanctions.
  • Former Polish PM and president of the centre-right European People's Party grouping Donald Tusk tweets: "In this war everything is real: Putin’s madness and cruelty, Ukrainian victims, bombs falling on Kyiv. Only your sanctions are pretended. Those EU government’s, which blocked tough decisions (i.a. Germany, Hungary, Italy) have disgraced themselves."
