Stock Futures Edge Higher Through European Morning

The E-mini S&P contract maintains a firmer short-term tone and the contract is holding on to its recent gains. Price has traded above resistance at 4531.67, the base of a bull channel, drawn from the Mar 13 low that was breached on Aug 16. Eurostoxx 50 futures remain closer to recent highs despite the latest pullback. The contract last week traded above resistance at the 50-day EMA at 4328.30. A resumption of gains would signal scope for a climb towards resistance at 4420.00.

  • Japan's NIKKEI closed higher by 228.56 pts or +0.7% at 32939.18 and the TOPIX ended 23.98 pts higher or +1.02% at 2373.73.Elsewhere, in China the SHANGHAI closed higher by 43.813 pts or +1.4% at 3177.06 and the HANG SENG ended 462.1 pts higher or +2.51% at 18844.16.
  • Across Europe, Germany's DAX trades higher by 72.18 pts or +0.46% at 15920.31, FTSE 100 higher by 30.26 pts or +0.41% at 7496.83, CAC 40 up 38.19 pts or +0.52% at 7338.84 and Euro Stoxx 50 up 29.9 pts or +0.7% at 4314.49.
  • Dow Jones mini up 57 pts or +0.16% at 34939, S&P 500 mini up 6.75 pts or +0.15% at 4528.75, NASDAQ mini up 39.75 pts or +0.26% at 15558.25.
