USDCAD maintains a firmer intraday tone following this week's gains. The pair
has cleared key near-term resistance at 1.3042 suggesting a potential base for
now at the recent 1.2952 low, Dec 31. The close above 1.3042 is promising and
has opened a recovery toward 1.3070, Dec 31 high where a break would open the
1.3100 handle and potentially the 50-dma at 1.3176. A return below 1.2952 would
instead resume the downtrend and open 1.2917, Oct 16 low, 2018.
