US TSYS SUMMARY: The 10Y US Treasury market was soft to steady in early morning
London trading. Markets are thin today as a result of public holidays in
numerous European countries.
- The 2Y yield is trading at 1.599%, the 10Y yield at 2.388% and the 30Y at
2.886%
- In the US there was news of a terrorist attack in New York City where an Uzbek
immigrant is accused of killing eight people. The FOMC are set to make their
interest rate decision at 1800GMT today and are largely expected to keep rates
unchanged. However, the FOMC decision appears to have been largely overshadowed
by speculation over the nomination of the next Fed Chair by President Trump.
- There were some large 10Y US Treasury future block trades seen. The first of
these was a 5,784 block at 124-26 and the next was similar in size and traded at
124-25+ both appear to be vs blocks in Bunds.
- There is a flurry of economic data to be released later in US with the main
focus being on the ADP Nonfarm Unemployment Change for October at 1215GMT and
the ISM Manufacturing PMI for October at 1400GMT.
