DOLLAR-CANADA
DOLLAR-CANADA: The Canadian dollar came under pressure on the back of a report
from the National Post which suggested that Canada has been "rejected" from the
NAFTA talks. The piece noted that "a source said the U.S. side, fuelled in part
by Lighthizer's dislike of Freeland, has decided to not even let Canada back
into the process (NAFTA talks) until it makes a substantive concession."
- USD/CAD hit a high of C$1.3096 on the move, last C$1.3050, with the recovery
likely aided by the G&M's more sanguine take on the matter, noting that the U.S.
& Mexico were entering a rapid track re: NAFTA talks. Resistance is noted at the
aforementioned overnight high, followed by the 50-DMA (C$1.3103), while initial
support through the intraday low is located at yesterday's low (C$1.2995).
- Canadian GDP presents the immediate CAD risk event today.
