JAPAN: The latest round of weekly Japanese international security flow data has
revealed that Japanese investors reverted to net buying of foreign bonds, to the
tune of Y668.1bn (after selling Y1.0185tn in the previous week), which has
allowed the 4 week rolling sum of the metric to rebound from near neutral levels
to +Y1.2241tn.
- Elsewhere, Japanese investors upped their net buying of foreign stocks to the
highest level seen since mid-March.
- International investors were net sellers of Japanese bonds, after 5
consecutive weeks of net buying, pushing the 4-week rolling sum of the measure
into negative territory for the first week in 3.
- Foreign investors also logged a fifth consecutive week of net purchases of
Japanese stocks, but the 4-week rolling sum pulled back as one particularly
large round of weekly net buying fell out of the sample.
