UK PRESS: The National Executive Committee of the main opposition left-wing
Labour Party have decided not to alter the rules for the upcoming leadership
election according to media reports.
- The rules will remain the same as in 2016, where registered supporters will
pay a Stg25 fee to vote, and will be able to sign up to do so from 14-16 Jan.
Reports also state 20 Jan will be the deadline for new members to join and be
able to vote in the contest.
- Still no sign of whether the deadline will apply to affiliates.
- So far no sign that the rules have been altered to benefit any particular
candidate. Centrists had raised fears that left-wing NEC could alter rules to
favour a leftist candidate.
