TMX Loads 19 Aframaxes in July: Reuters

Around 19 Aframax ships loaded around 330k /bd of crude oil at Canada’s West Coast in July, the second full month of expanded Trans Mountain Pipeline operations, Reuters said.

  • This is down from the 350k b/d that Trans Mountain loaded in June from 20 Aframaxes and one non-Aframax vessel.
  • However, Bloomberg reported Western Canada loadings for July at a slightly higher 347k b/d.
  • Trans Mountain has the capacity to load 34 Aframaxes a month. Each vessel can carry around 550k bbl.
  • Around two thirds of the incremental TMX barrels have gone to Asia, according to Phillips 66 VP Brian Mandell.
  • TMX was estimated to be around 80% full, with all committed capacity being used.
