Tonight's Debate Takes Centre Stage As Polls Show Macron Extending Lead

Focus in the French presidential election centres on tonight's debate between incumbent Emmanuel Macron and right-wing Rassemblement National leader Marine Le Pen ahead of the 24 April run-off election. Debate starts at 2100CET (1500ET, 2000BST) and is likely to last over two hours. Latest daily rolling polls ahead of the debate show Macron retaining a lead over Le Pen, that is stable if not particularly substantial.
