US TSYS SUMMARY: Treasuries are trading mixed Friday ahead of nonfarm payrolls.
- The Mar 19 T-Note future is down 2.5/32 at 120-105, having traded in a range
of 120-075 to 120-16.
- A bit of renewed curve flattening, with the 2-Yr yield up 0.4bps at 2.7641%,
5-Yr down 0bps at 2.7531% (2s5s remaining inverted), 10-Yr down 0.9bps at
2.8863%, and 30-Yr down 1.7bps at 3.1458%.
- Payrolls the main event today of course: expectations for NFP rise of 198k
(BBG whisper is 206k) and the unemployment rate seen holding steady at 3.7%.
- While our US data team point to some upside risks to nonfarm November payrolls
in their `5 Things` preview, market reaction may be more pronounced on a
downside surprise (see POV: NFP RISK WEIGHTED TOWARD USD DOWNSIDE at 9:42GMT.)
- Apart from payrolls, prelim Uni. of Michigan data for December out later.
- Fed's Brainard is also due to speak in Washington at 1715GMT.
- Note Fed's Powell & Williams pointed a relatively strong U.S. economy in their
respective addresses Thurs, after more cautious comments from Kaplan & Bostic.
- WSJ Thurs reported 'wait-and-see' approach may prevail following Dec hike.
