Truckers Strike Put Down, President Boric Travels To Mexico

  • Truckers halted a strike after reaching an agreement in principle with the Government. The Government agreed to create a mechanism to stabilize diesel prices and improve highway safety.
  • President Gabriel Boric travels to Mexico to attend the Pacific Alliance summit. Despite a recent uptick, President Boric’s approval rating fell once more to 31% (-2pts) this week, while his disapproval rises to 61% (+3pts), according to a Cadem poll.
    • Within the Cadem Survey, the main reasons for approving the President are the pension reform (63%) and his personal attributes (46%) while the main reasons for disapproval are crime (61%), lack of experience to govern and changes of opinion (54%), in addition to the economy and the cost of living (35%).
  • Separately, Finance Minister Mario Marcel plans to speak in lower house committees on pension and tax reforms.
