TURKISH LIRA
TURKISH LIRA: TRY trades markedly weaker across the board, lower by over 2%
against the USD already today following reports that suggest Turkey are holding
out against the US in negotiations/discussions over the detention of a US pastor
in the country. As a result, markets are pricing in further economic damage for
longer as a result of US sanctions against the country. USD/TRY made light work
of resistance ahead of yesterday's highs to extend the move this morning and, at
writing, the rate touches Try 5.40 and approaches record highs printed Monday at
Try 5.4222.
