UK And EU Need To Meet To Reach A Compromise

European Commission chief spokesman says that for the UK and EU to come to a deal on an FTA the two sides need to meet, stating that "This is 101 in international trade negotiations".

  • Comes after UK PM Johnson and Cabinet Office Minister Gove said there was no point in meetings if the EU was not willing to alter its position.
  • Chief negotiators Barnier and Frost due to talk again today on the phone after comments from Barnier and Comm VP Sefcovic yesterday saying the EU was open to 'intensifying' negotiations, something the UK side has been seeking. Commission spokesman reiterates this point.
