UK To Quit EU Trade Talks If No Deal Seen By Oct 15: Wires

Wires reporting that the UK plans to walk away from trade talks with the EU if no deal is in sight by October 15.

  • At present it is just an 'anonymous source' being cited for the comments, and so should be taken with some scepticism.
  • Counters a lot of the more positive rhetoric emerging from EU and UK in recent days over prospect of a deal.
  • No such comment about an end to talks issued by either Cabinet Office Minister Michael Gove or chief negotiator with the EU Lord Frost in the House of Lords European Union Committee which is currently underway (see 1409BST bullet)
