US Officials Head to Guyana to Support Essequibo Dispute

The Biden administration sent officials to Guyana on Sunday as they look to deescalate the dispute with Venezuela over the oil rich Essequibo region.

  • The representatives are continuing work on regional security and economic stability, the US Embassy in Guyana said.
  • Venezuela and Guyana have pledged to keep working towards a diplomatic solution after the latest meet on Thursday, mediated by Brazil.
